RSGB Contest Results 70MHz Trophy 2021

70 MHz Trophy

Activity was down from last year, however, it was on par with previous years. Last year results were skewed because of Covid. The majority of stations reported poor tropo but nice warm weather. There was an Es opening into Spain which most took advantage of. Despite being co-ordinated with an IARU event there were very few Eu stations worked.

There were some comments regarding the change of day/time; the change was made to fit in with an IARU event running at same time, giving a better chance to Eu stations. Conditions meant this was of no real help. It looks like the main issue was end time / duration of the event.

There were some other interesting comments: banning MGM when no MGM QSO's were recorded; stations refusing to work SCC operators; and stations needing more time to pack up, yet the stations commenting were fixed.

Trophies and Certificates

VHF Managers Trophy is awarded to Colchester RA - G0VHF/P operated by G1OGY, G4ZTR, M0BOP and G0IBZ as the winner of the Open Section.

4 Metre Cup is awarded to Alan GM4ZUK/P as the highest scoring Single Operator entry.

GM4ZUK/P 1st place - SO Section

G3TCU/P 2nd place - SO Section

M7PAT/P highest placed - SO Foundation Station

2E0MDJ/P highest placed - SO Intermediate Station

G5B (G4ODA) 1st place - SF Section

G4ASR 2nd place - SF Section

M5TKA as highest placed low power station.

2E0OUT highest placed Intermediate SF Station

G0VHF/P (G1OGY, G4ZTR, M0BOP, G0IBZ) 1st place - Open Section
